Rings final at Tom Lynchs
Wednesday night at Tom Lynchs will see the Cork Combined Rings League stage their shield final at Tom Lynchs and what a meeting of teams there will be.The final will feature the Northsides Top of the Hill against the Southsides Ma Dullea's, everyones dream final I would say.
Both of these teams are loaded with ring throwing talent and on my last visit to see them both play in a final I certainly came away very impressed, with the eventual win going to the Top of the Hill in five and one with scarcely a ring dropped on the night.
Anyone interested in going to see this final should be in attendance at the venue by 9.30 on Wednesday night where they will be guaranteed a top class night of rings.
INDO team fours and doubles in Ennis

On the national scene over the weekend in Ennis at the West County Hotel the Brat Pack team representing cork were defeated in the final of the team fours competition by the A team representing Donegal.
The Cork side were represented by John O'Shea, Damian O'Driscoll, Jason Kavanagh and Stephen O'Connor while the Donegal team consisted of Martin McCloskey, John Flood, Paddy Boyce and Sean Wilson.
Martin McCloskey defeated John O'Shea by two legs to one in the first game of the final and Damian O'Driscoll followed by defeating John Flood by three games to nil to give the Cork side a four games to two halfway lead.
However losses followed by Jason Kavanagh against Paddy Boyce and Stephen O'Connor against Sean Wilson to give the Donegal side a seven games to five win.
In the doubles event Steven Coveney and John Paul Dowdall were the best of the Cork entries as they went down at the quarter-final stage of the competition.
World ring championships come to Cork City.
Our cousins in sport the game of rings will be holding the 3rd, World ring board championships at the Commons Inn Hotel on the weekend of the 17th, and 18th, of October 2009.Over the course of the weekend there will be twelve world titles to be won and I am sure with the talent that is playing here in this City of ours a World title in one grade or the other will come our way.
Some of our very best darts players were, or still are quite good rings players as well.
Over the years we had Matt O'Sullivan who was a rings individual champion as well as a City individual champion in darts.
John Buckley was a very accomplished rings player, so was Steve Burdock, the late Mick Betson and many others who graced both sports, even today Martin Cotter has proven to be a dab hand on the ring board along with Steven O'Connor and Damian O'Driscoll and Liam Guiney.

Darts gala at St, Vincent's
A packed St, Vincent's GAA club was the venue for a magnificent Bank Holiday darts gala on Easter Monday last.John O'Shea and Martin Cotter once again proved to be the masters in doubles events as they claimed the top prize of €400 in their defeat in a wonderful final of Stephen O'Connor and Jason Kavanagh.
This was truly television darts at it's best and kept the massive attendance at the Vincent's gripped and wishing for more as O'Shea and Cotter ran out winners by three legs to two.
Rita Hannigan claimed her second singles win in five days as she again defeated Mary Long in the ladies final.
Rita has been waiting over twenty years for this win and she goes and claims two in a few days.
Another example of the youth that is coming through the underage ranks was shown throughout the youths competition as, Ryan Courtney showed a welcome return to form in his win over a very unlucky Stephen O'Driscoll in a marvelous final that had the attandance enthralled at the standard of darts on view, as Courtney ran out winner by two legs to one.
