Murphy cup and Tom Lynch junior cup winners

ResultsAt the Gallows on Tuesday night the Murphy Stout B division sponsored cup final featured the Riverstown Inn, who were looking for their third trophy of the season, and St,Vincent's whose last trophy win was in fact in the Murphy Stout C division cup a few years back.
The first game got underway with Riverstown player John Moynihan coming up against Vincent's Martin Cronnin, and it was Moynihan who took this opener for the Riverstown with a two legs to nil win over Cronnin.
Moynihan had top scores of 95 and 110 as he finished the first leg on a double sixteen and a top hand of 100 saw him check out on a double ten for the win.

The second game of this Murphy cup final saw Vincent’s restore the game to equality as Paul O’Shea deservedly won his game against Eddie Moynihan.

O’Shea won the first leg of this clash with best hands of 88 and 110 which led him to a double fifteen checkout which he duly dispatched for the lead.

Moynihan hit back to win the second leg after high hands of 78 and 120 to then take it on a double six, but O’Shea was the better player in the deciding leg as scores of 95 and 120 saw him take it on a double eight for to bring the final level.

Bernard Donovan had the Riverstown ahead once again as he was a winner over Vincent’s John McSweeney at game number three.

Donovan won this third game 2-0 after he scored with hands of 100 twice, and 135 in his winning legs along with a double sixteen checkout each time.

The final was once again all square after the fourth game of the evening as Vincent’s Willie O’Dwyer was a winner against Riverstown Inn number four Decci Cotter.

O’Dwyer threw in a 100 in taking the first leg on a double ten and he scored a high hand of 110 as he won the second leg on a double six to leave it all square at the break.

The resumption of the final saw the Riverstown quickly take control of the match as they went on to win the next two games courtesy of Sammy O’Donovan and Vincent Moynihan over Trevor McSweeney and David O’Connor respectively.

The man of the match award was shared between Riverstown’s Bernard Donovan and Vincent’s Paul O’Shea.

Tom Lynchs was the venue for the junior cup final between the Anglers Sports Lounge and the Mountain Bar.

John O’Brien of the Mountain had his team on the scoreboard first as he took the first game from Anglers player Cathal Aldworth by 2-1 but, John Lyons had the Anglers level as he also scored a 2-1 win over Frank Brothers.

The Mountain were ahead once more as the third game went their way courtesy of Garry O’Mahony winning against Anglers number three Graham Butler, but Gregg Mullen had the sides level once more as he was a 2-0 winner against Sean Forde.

The fifth game went the way of the Mountain as Nial Horgan took it from the Anglers Tim Hennessy in a very exciting game by 2-1.

However it was all square again in this topsey turvey game as Anglers number six, veteran Steve Keenan won in another very exciting game by 2-1 to send it to the final game of the night.

Game seven featured Mountain’s Eddie Murphy and Anglers John O’Sullivan, and Murphy proved to be more consistent then his opponent as he took the final decider on a 2-0 scoreline, a game that also won Murphy the man of the match award.
