The untruths' of truthbetold
A comment posted on this site today Friday May 22nd, would seem to give the notion that all is not well in within the halls of the Cork Darts Organisation and, it would also seem from the way the writer has garnered information from it's "sources" that, the writer has some kind of agenda to negate the work of the CDO.First of all Mr, "Truthbetold" there is not a problem with rules and regulations in Cork, end of story.
Secondly, your sources whoever it may be, got their facts wrong when they informed you that the Gerald Griffin had a better countback.
The facts of this are as follows; Each team in the group played five matches and all accumulated 19points from a total of 35 possible.
In a normal situation when two teams tie it is the team who wins the game between both that would go through as winner.
However as all three teams had been defeated by one or the other, the next option was to decide who had lost the most matches and, in this case the Gerald Griffin had lost three, the Doughcloyne had lost two and the Anglers had lost one.
Now I am no great mathmatician but in my book any blind man could see who was going to lose out here.
If by chance all teams had the same difference in matches lost, then the next step would have been to put each team in a head to head table and, if that still had not sorted the problem then the committee would have resorted to cards, with legs won and lost to decide.
This is the order in which we have always conducted the above and will continue to do so.
This has been a competition rule with the CDO for the past five years or so and is used so as to avoid play-offs and so not bring teams out on a extra night.
The above competition rule is refreshed to delegates prior to all competitions with this format included.
Mr, "Truthbetold" did your so called sources inform you of the above, I think not, maybe it was that your source was not present at a delegate meeting when this information was given to delegate.
In regards to the rule, it is a competition rule that is implemented to suit the ongoing competition at the time of such competition commencing and is not written into any book or stone for that matter.
You must have a very popular source of information if you are able to say that most of the players (Or have they all being in touch with you) in Cork have never heard of it, marvelous is it not.
Also I am a member of the Anglers darts team and we all seem to understand it, contrary to what you wrote in your comment on this site.
I am the Secretary of the CDO and I have always explained it to the members of my team in advance of this kind of format being used, again no problem here as you have stated to the contrary.
Finally Mr, Truthbetold, your final sentence would seem to be trying to whip up a little storm in advance of the Crean and McGarry trophy semi-finals and final at the Glenryan Tavern on monday night.
This competition will always be held in the high esteem it deserves and comments like yours will not detract from it in any way.
No clouds will hang over the finals night of the Crean and Mcgarry trophy, guarenteed.

At least now everyone can read for himself or herself the correct information rather then listening to hearsay in the pubs of the city
