The Muskerry Arms brought the curtain down on ladies team darts for this year when they captured the CDO Gallows B division league in their three games to one victory over the Brown Derby, played at the Gallows on Tuesday night.
Maybe it was because there was a scent of Christmas in the air but, both teams came to the venue with plenty of vocal support on the night and, the good natured banter certainly added to the atmosphere that was quite evident on the night.
Back then to the action and first players on the oche were, for the Muskerry Arms Carolyn Buckley and the Brown Derby put forward Catherine Moore.
In a very tense opening leg both players more or less answered each other in the scoring stakes but, it was the Muskerry player who took it on a double-five.
The same pattern followed in the second leg with again both players answering each others score, before Carolyn took the second leg on a double-one and, the first game of the evening for the Muskerry Arms.
The second game brought Aisling O'Leary for the Muskerry Arms and Linda Norberg from the Brown Derby to the oche.
O'Leary had top scores of 70, 80 and a 125 as she won the first leg on a double-six but Norberg fought back to take the second leg on a double-two after top hands of 87 and 100.
The third and deciding leg was a very close game as both ladies had missed shots for a checkout before O'Leary went on to take it on a double-two.
One game from overall victory were the Muskerry Arms and to the board came Nicola Bray and, against her to save the game was the Brown Derby's Kim Ramsell.
Hands of 79, 92 and 127 gave Ramsell the advantage which she did not relinquish as she went on to take the first leg on a double-ten.
Ramsell continued the good work in the second leg with scores of 81, 85 and 94 before she took the leg on a double-sixteen to keep her team alive in this final.
However there was to be no further reprieve for the Brown Derby as it was all over after the fourth game.
Aoife Hally though gave the Derby a glimmer of light as she won a great first leg of darts with a finish from 81 but, Lorraine Flaherty for the Muskerry arms fought back strongly to win the following two legs compliments of a double-twelve and a double-one to win it for the Muskerry Arms amid great scenes of jubilation from their followers.
There was however some consolation for the Brown Derby as Kim Ramsell was named the lady of the match after her magnificent win at number three.
