  | | | Once again the CDO has had a player selected for the Montonotte Hotel Northside Sports star of the month award. This time it is one of our male darts players as Damian O'Driscoll became the second player from our organisation to be honoured in this fashion. Last year saw new ground broken when Nicola O'Donovan became the first ever darts player in Cork to be recognised in this high profile way. As was the case last season with Nicola been very deserving of the award, it also is the case this year as Damian has really been to the very forefront in darts both at local and national level. A lot of this credit must go to the Evening Echo and its sports editor John McHale, who has given our sport such coverage in our local community paper and so raising the profile of the game, thus making aware to all who read the sports pages of the Echo that the sport of darts is truly alive and well here in this great and sporting mad City of Cork. Damian will be honoured at a lunch in the Montonotte Hotel on Friday July 25th, when he will be presented with a memento to mark his achievment. Your comments are welcome by either clicking on "comments" below or, by posting it in the shoutbox on this magnificent achievment by Damian. |

 | | | Evening Echo and Glenryan cup results |
| | | |
|
  | | | The CDO Evening Echo cup final was brought to a conclusion last night Tuesday July 1 at the Joshua tree. The red cove Inn won their second trophy of the season in a nail biting four games to three win over the Gallows. The man of the match award went to Paul O'Sullivan of the Red cove inn who began a great comeback from his team, they found themselves two legs to nil down early on but they rallied to square and eventually go on and take the cup. Meanwhile over at the Glenryan Tavern the Glenryan B cup featured the Doughcloyne Hotel and the Joshua Tree. This turned out to be a largley one sided affair as the Doughcloyne went on to win by four games to one after loseing the first game of the night. Joshua Tree's only winner on the night Pat Barrett was also declared the man of the match which was some form of consolation for the Josh. |
